Power of motivation

Last week was a bit busier, and I did not feel like doing my 6 miles, so I ran 4 last week and saved the 6 miles for today.....(but in my mind, I would have been pleased with 5 or 5.5.... ha).

So, this afternoon, I got ready to do my weekly "long" run. As I was leaving the apartment, I said goodbye to B-ran and I told him I was attempting to run 6 miles today. This is further than I have ever gone (especially in one stretch). I sounded very unsure in my proclamations of running.... so Brandon would not let me leave until I made him sure that I could do it and that I wanted to do it!

So I just did it!

Man, so much of it is a mental game. I felt stomach-sick after 2 miles and I thought that the rest was going to be miserable, but it got better!

Once B-ran is done with finals, I am still planning on taking him on a run down at pacific beach along the boardwalk. I hear that it is 3.5 miles-- just x that by 2 and that could be my 7 mile run!

And a shout out to my cousin who just finished the Boston marathon! I am so proud of her. She is incredible.

clothes, clothes and more clothes

Everyone knows that when you get new running clothes you want to wear them more; therefore, you work out more... here are some of my picks.

Basic running tank top... no one likes a sweating shirt sleeve that hangs as you run.

If it were up to me I would bring fab into running, glitter tank top anyone?

skinnyrunnergirl.com makes these awesome shirts, yes, sometimes I do want to punch it in the face and anyone enjoying it around me.

Nike tempo shorts, hello... miracle... awesome.. amazing.

Need I say more than this... design. your. own.

Fun bras are needed, I don't care what you say.

Everyone needs a little polka dot

Anniversary Present

For our anniversary, B surprised me with a Nike shoe insert (and roses:)! Has anyone used this? I am excited.... it will track time, distance, pace, and calories-- out of all of these, right now I am just excited to see distance and time right now....

Super cool though, right?!

I want to take this to work with me at the hospital and see how far we walk during our shifts.

Cirque du Soleil

Did you know that some 24-hour fitness gyms have a cirque class? Well, of course Vegas has one. Ha.

My mom introduced this to me during my spring break. It is pretty much a "band class" with cool circus type music playing. I meant to bring my camera, but forgot it!!

Try it out! I felt it in my upper back and arms the next day.

It was so fun to work out with my mom everyday while on spring break.

5 miles!

I hit the five mile mark last week and TODAY I get to do 5.5 miles! (increments of .5 every week :)

5 was super hard for me.... I got bored and wanted to stop.

But it helped that once I reached 2.5 miles-- or half-way, I knew that I had only had that much more to do... and by the time I was at 4.0 miles, I just focused on doing 0.1 miles at a time (either by counting steps, or by rotating between hands on or hands off the treadmill. ha).

And it helped!

Hopefully I can keep going to get 5.5 today.

Next week, for 6 miles, I am hoping to get the husband to come with me along the beach for the run......:)

Hurdling!

Look who I got to watch run!!! M- the youngest, ran a race this past week for hurdles.

I will have her tell you the details.

Well, if you see at the bottom, she was in 3rd or 4th place, well by the end of the race, she had caught up and won the race! First overall in the 100 meter hurdles!

It was so fun to watch her run this past week!

Here are a few pictures....

Funk

I am in a running funk... I can't seem to break the 6 mile mark. I use all kinds of excuses: my foot hurts, I never see my husband and he is home so I must be too, I have gone far enough, I will do it next week, I listen to the same songs OVER AND OVER.

Any suggestions!?
