Childhood Obesity

Take a look at this video. I have worked on this epidemic in Utah a few years ago with some of the elementary schools. It is a terrible thing and I do not know the cure. Who is to blame?? Part parents, part the food-industry, part advertisers..... But I know it is not hopeless. Kids need food and most kids will eat healthy food if the option is there (particularly in cafeterias-- as long as the food looks appetizing). I think that a lot of kids just don't have the time or means to get out and play anymore (video games and computers are here too), so that is a huge factor as well.

Resisting Temptation

My boss had me run to macey's... he said no healthy stuff... I tried to throw in the Pomo juice... he saw right through it.

I know these things are bad for me....

I swear I know it...

somehow I ALWAYS end up eating some...

which leads to a weight gain only 2 months after being married... which is awful.

Please send some advice my way to resist!

She's a ZUMBA freak

anyone who knows me know that I LOVE/ADORE/WORSHIP zumba. It is a latin dance class mixed in with some aerobics. Instead of running 10 miles today (because my shins and knees are begging for mercy) I decided to hop on into the gym for a little elliptical and zumba. I love the class, you can burn around 500 calories, if you do it right :).

On my other blog, I posted that when I lose 15 pounds I want to get certified to teach at a gym. Well, people... that is never going to happen. I have succomed to the fact that I will never be that size 4 that I want to be. BUT I can still be a zumba teacher... I will just make a deal to never wear a swimsuit to class or something too revealing... that way everyone has a good time :)

Yoga

This morning I went to "yoga stretch" to get a good stretch. (and to get me up early on my day off of school)

It felt so nice!

Except for one thing-- it is hard for my wrists to sit in downward dog for that long.

Will my wrists get stronger if it do it more often? Or will it always hurt?

gym styles sure have changed...

M and I were talking about hairstyles for each sport... I was at the gym last night and saw this.

I do not know how she kept her hair up while doing the elliptical for 30 minutes.. why did she put so much effort into it... not sure... maybe it is natural.

Then I saw a boy running in this...

and these...

Hmmm... sketchy

I was at the gym today and as I was walking in the girls who work up in the front (believe it or not the post is not about them) and they were talking about how the manager wants to tilt the mirrors more so people will look bigger in the mirrors!! So THAT is the secret, no wonder I lookg huge at the gym and normal in the door reflection walking out.

Ha I know your secret....

anyways.. I did run 4 miles today... meh.. I feel neutral about it... I should have been able to do more.

I feel cool...

Okay not gonna lie I feel peretty dang awesome right now because I'm actually writing on a BLOG!..let only with my amazing and beautiful sisters.
Just a little about myself...
*I don't really like this thing called "running.."but for some reason I do it anyways..maybe its all those endorphins that magically turn my day around.
*I have played soccer, basketball, flag football, and volleyball and wasn't all that great at any of them. So i run:)
*I completed my first season of cross country this past fall and had a blast!
* Right now I am participating in my third season of track-i run the 100 and 300 hurdles...and yes, i have proof through scars, scrapes, bruises, or "abrasions"..as some call them.

This past week I had two track meets. Wednesday we had our first one and had quite the adventure. Good news first: I qualified for regionals the 100H!! okay now the bad news: for the 300H I was in 2nd place behind this girl that I've always thought of as being quite quick and on the last hurdle, I tripped and ate it. hard. Luckily, I was able to finish the race in 5th place but nevertheless..It still hurt. But i guess you can officially call me a "real" hurdler considering that was my first real fall.

After multiple applications of neosporin, huge band aids, and even a homemade bandage (consisting of cutting off the "toes" of an old sock in the mismatch pile and sliding it over my knee)..I was able to have a great race at the meet on Saturday!!

Tomorrow......

I will be attempting 4.5 miles. I decided my "long" runs are on Mondays and the rest of the week, I will just be working on getting stronger in general and getting my heart rate up.

So, don't mind the fact that L is running double of what I am running, I am just a newbie at this longer running deal :) She is pretty awesome!

Yesterday I worked my gluteal muscles :) (I was only at the gym for like 30 minutes because BYU was about to play, so I couldn't stay long...)Anyway, they are a little sore today! It feels great though, I love when I am sore.

Tomorrow I feel like I will get bored fast.... any tips for staying entertained while running longer distances on a treadmill-- and "long" is all relative, right??

M the rockstar

So we are actually three... here is the youngest... M.

I was hesitant to bring her on board because she is a rockstar. She hurdles and is quite the babe doing it, she can even get away with battle scars. She will be posting about her hurdle adventures... we love her.

- L

PS. I did my 10 today and I have been in bed for 2 hours watching say yes to the dress :)

"I can do anything good, better than anyone"

I have been feeling unmotivated to get out there this week. Not sure why, I have been eating healthy and been keeping on task at work. Today is a little gloomy, I had my 10 miler prepared and I was not sure I was going to do it. Until I saw this...Thanks Cheryl.

So I am going to clean the house and get my booty out there to do this better than anyone else :) Jk... probably won't but I will still do it

And we are off

Hello pavement, so we meet again gym treadmill, with your miles and miles of revolving tread, hello 26.2 mile course, good morning protein shake and sore muscles, shin splints, iced knees and countless bags of frozen vegetables, goodbye pounds and inches and sweat and fear, no more "I can'ts" or "I wish I coulds." We are the sweaty sisters, our laces are tied, our playlists are loaded, our head phones pumping, hearts racing, blood flowing, we are ready for the miles, the hours, and the achievments. We are the sweaty sisters.- T

Hello all, I am L. I am married to T. He is the mastermind of the theme above. C and I ( she is married to B, you caught up yet?) have decided to blog about our running goals.

Now a little about C, she is my awesome (or awesomespice, however you want it) younger sister. She is in school to be a nurse and is talented at so many things. She has decided to take up running (only because she wants a new swimsuit) so she can run 8 miles by the summer. ( Yay!)

I am L. I am a banker at a nationwide bank, need the hook up on loans? I gotcha. Checking accounts? Yup. Time account, mortages yup and yup. Basically I am money savvy ( well trying to be). I love running, I did my first half marathon last year and hope to rock another one and attempt to train for a marathon soon.

We would love to hear about all of your guys' goals... if anyone is going to read this...
