back on the train

I did it! I finally ran again. Today I felt unstoppable until my left started hurting, but I feel accomplished. I am THINKING of doing a marathon (yeah, did I just say that!?) next June. We will see.

I have returned!!

2 weeks ago I found out I had staff infection
ew.
I was quite traumatized and couldn't really work out because the
incision would break open and blood would come rushing out
( ok maybe trickle out)
Today I finally got back to the gym to really work out

45 minutes of cardio
weights: arms, abs and legs

Welcome back me!

Uintas 2008--my first backpacking trip ever..it was definitely quite the experience. I am surprised I ever went on another trip. It consisted of hiking mostly through rain and hail and then sleeping in a wet sleeping back. it was absolutely lovely:)...no but really..it was.

Here are a few family reunion hikes..

Park City 2011
Bear Lake 2009

Lake Tahoe 2008

Every year at our family reunions..we do a hike with all 50+ of us. They have a sort of reputation..."oh don't worry guys its only half a mile"..5 miles later and were still aren't half way to the arch. Nevertheless..we all still enjoy them! I have quite a few special memories from these infamous hikes.

Along with our family hikes, we do a backpacking trip every summer with whoever wants to go. Here are some from the past. This started my wanting to be an "organic granola girl" phase. Gotta love it!!:)

Oh and I apologize for the messy post..I'm still getting used to the blogging world.

Bike :)

The sweating sisters took a bike ride together this past weekend! The ride was out at Lake Mead, Nevada with the whole family. It took the route of old train tunnels all the way to the Hoover Dam. In total, the ride was about 9 miles.

There is me! I look bald here :)

It was SUPER windy so even though the way back was mostly downhill, it took a lot of effort because it was against the wind. Great workout though and it was so fun being with everyone.

Finallyy!!

Well I am done with track! Wooooohoooo!!
Don't get me wrong i love it..i just love my afternoon naps and watching Ellen even more:)
I had regionals exactly one week ago and you will never guess what happened...
yes i fell. on the last hurdle. at the regional meet.
What can i say..i went out with a bang!:)
I couldn't help but laugh at myself because it such a typical "Mads" thing to do.

But here is a picture of the damage...not gonna lie..i felt perretty dang cool.
(This is actually a picture of the first time i fell..but they were basically the same)

Despite the falls..this was by far my favorite year of hurdling. I met some amazing people and it was just a blast.

Love these girls

the dreaded 300 hurdles

So this was freshmen year..but i just really like the picture:)

So now that track is done..i am getting ready for my next adventure.. The Grand Canyon.

In exactly one week from Friday I am hiking the Grand Canyon from rim to rim..and yes. I am freaking out. It is exactly 23.5 miles and I have no idea what I am getting myself into. All the advice I have is from C who hiked it four years ago...

heres C:

"It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life."

Wish me Luck!:)
